Thirteen of us showed up for college tonight, since it wasn't raining at the start of the class. By the end, though, it was bucketing down. I started with a second mock exam. Most of it went OK but I ended up admitting defeat on one question, typing text at a tab in the header. I couldn't find a way to get the text to left-align instead of centre-aligning. After handing in the printouts to Pathenia, I asked her how to sort that problem out (in case it came up in the real exam) and she showed me the 'Tabs' menu - the one place I hadn't thought of going. It turned out that 'align centre' was marked and you just have to click on 'align left'. Of course I felt like a complete nana. Cue to go for a cup of coffee before coming back to tackle the real exam.

Not much trouble with the real exam. My only slips were printing all six letters of a mail-merged document - you were only meant to do the merge, not print it - and printing both pages of the document I was meant to print instead of just page 1. Fortunately Pathenia wasn't looking when I collected those pages from the printer and I was able to stuff page 2 in my pocket and just hand in page 1. After I'd finished Pathenia gave me the website address, username and password for finding out my results and said my mark should be up on Thursday evening. I asked what the pass mark for this module was and was relieved to hear it's 75%.

With over an hour of class left, I turned to Module 2, Using the PC and Managing Files. Tiny snag - you can't access the Control Panel, which is central to Module 2, on the college computers. So I had to spend the last hour just reading the book, trying to memorise how to do everything. At least with half-term next week I have a fortnight to practice at home.

On the Team Aisleyne forum there'd been a whisper that the lady would be appearing on Charlie Brooker's Screen Wipe tonight, so I tuned in. Sure enough, she was the link girl, and did a fine job. I'd never seen this programme before - Charlie's deadpan caustic humour had me laughing out loud. At the very end I noticed the programme was made by 'Zeppotron, an Endemol company'. Aisleyne working for Endemol - how ironic. But she's getting on the telly and that's good news.

Then over to BBC1 for the traffic jam episode of One Foot In The Grave. Eric Idle's car mechanic singing a hymn of hate about Victor Meldrew to the tune of Cwm Rhondda still blows me away.
