Oct. 9th, 2007 10:02 pmDentist this morning for my permanent filling. A different lady dentist today. She greeted me with "Quite a big filling, by the look of it"; I passed on the other dentist's message from last time, that the tooth was going to be nearly all filling and no tooth. After removing my specs to give me a pair of Joe 90 ones for the duration, she gave me an injection to numb that side of my mouth, then once that had kicked in the long procedure of drilling and filling began. I felt it a couple of times when she drilled right into the middle of the tooth, but apart from that it went OK, till right at the end a stray lump of silver went right down the back of my throat. I think I might have got it out when rinsing my mouth out. The dentist warned me to eat only on the other side of my mouth for 24 hours, then at last I was free to go to reception and book my check-up for next April. I asked for a Tuesday, the one day of the week I don't work, but there was a tiny snag - the receptionist says I have to see the one who gave me my last check-up, and she doesn't work Tuesdays. Fortunately they had a 4.30 appointment available one day.
Only eight of us showed up for college tonight. While the numbers were reduced last week, this was a new low, less than half of the people who started the course. Either lots of people have dropped out or they didn't fancy it because it was raining. By the end of the class I'd done my first mock exam in Word Processing - went OK.
