To Westleigh Park to see the girls' FA Women's Cup tie with Upper Beeding. In the clubhouse, was about to sit down with my Magners at a table on my own when Vicky waved me over to sit with her, Jenna D and a girl I didn't know. I asked Jenna D how come she was out of the side and she said she'd hurt her back and her leg in a car crash during the week. Poor lass. Fortunately, no-one was seriously injured, though I think Jenna said something about having been billed for damages to a lamp-post.

I couldn't be sure, as several snatches of the conversation consisted of the girls saying asides sotto voce to each other (I was on the opposite side of the table). After we discussed some banter Vicky had had with Kayleigh, Jenna creased up, and I heard her say to the other girls "His innocence makes me laugh." The implication was that I am innocently unaware of the female/female relationships several of the players are in. She couldn't be more wrong.

Heard a sobering rumour in the stand before kick-off, that Jodie will be leaving for another club. She's out of action now - playing on her dodgy knee last week aggravated it something rotten - but she turned up to watch. Obviously I didn't mention it to her; I only really got to say hello anyway.

The girls got back to winning ways in style, winning 8-0 with a brace each from Chantelle, Coops, Kayleigh (her two beautiful volleys were standouts) and Clare. On my way out of the ground after, Ian asked if I'd be coming to the clubhouse for a drink, but I only had enough dosh on me for something to eat and had a train to catch...or so I thought.

Arrived at the station to find there was no 16.29 train. There was a replacement bus advertised, but no sign of one, and anyway I didn't fancy getting on a bus when the 16.45 train would only get me into Portsmouth Harbour three minutes later. Strolled out into Havant and to Sophie's Kebab Shop.
