Woken at 7 by the postman ringing the doorbell with a recorded-delivery parcel - my new watch. She's a beauty.

Went delivering for a friend of mine who's standing for a council by-election in Portsmouth. It wasn't too hard a task as we weren't leafletting every door, just hand-delivering a targeted letter to those identified as likely or potential voters for our party. In one side street, there was a bride, bridesmaid and all her family about to leave one house - I had to wait while a relative took photos of them before getting past that house. I had a letter for someone living there, so just dropped it onto the mat, next to the bridesmaid's feet.

As I'd be going straight on to Hawks v Thurrock after my delivery round, I was wearing my Hawks shirt. One bunch of young men driving a van stopped by me and asked "What team is that?"

"Havant & Waterlooville."

"Fair play." The guy gave me a thumbs up.

So after completing my delivery, it was into Havant, stopping at the Burger King for a Smokey Blue Angus Meal, then the long walk to Westleigh Park. Never has a Magners tasted sweeter.

The game was not a classic, but who cares? WE WON 3-0. From Mo Harkin's tap-in after half an hour, Hawks were always going to win. The second half was mostly a bore, drawing moans about Hawks' performance from sections of the crowd (though we were 2-0 up!!) During the last quarter-hour people began to leave. Those who left early missed a brilliant goal in injury time, when Tony Taggart got the ball wide, ran into the box and sent over a perfect pass for Rocky Baptiste to slam home.

X Factor 4 : While I appreciate It's About Time weren't the best singers in the world, I didn't think they were as awful as Simon Cowell did. But though I respect his right to believe an act isn't good enough to go through, I do take issue with him saying "I'm never wrong". Combined with his disgraceful "no...no...no" performance last week, Simon is just making himself look an arrogant bastard.
