I've been wanting a new watch for months - my current cheap French model has four ugly scratch marks on the glass, and Kristen will tell you how much that bugs me - and today, at last, I can finally afford one. Before leaving for work this morning, logged on to ebay and bought a neat-looking Precision radio-controlled one (yes, I am anorak enough to like a watch guaranteed to show precise GMT/BST) for £22.49 inc p&p. Renewed my Women's Soccer Scene subscription (they have been good enough to keep e-mailing it to me even since I let my subs lapse) and sent off for the new Non-League Yearbook and Attila the Stockbroker's new CD.
Arriving back in Gosport after work (eventually - the bus from the office was nearly 20 minutes late) it was time for one last round of treats. First stop was the kebab shop for a Chicken Doner. Then just after 6 I moseyed down to Asda to buy a couple of bottles of McEwan's Champion, for tonight's UEFA Super Cup. (Congrats to

Switched on my phone at half time to find a poignant text from Jade. She'd sent it just as she was settling down to watch the BB8 final and wanted to let me know it wouldn't be the same without me watching it with her. My heart bled, but I just can't bring myself to tell Jade, sweet innocent child that she is, how the BB magic was brutally shattered for me. As far as she is concerned, I just haven't bothered with BB this year. She did add that I hadn't missed much as this year hasn't been as good, and concluded that she didn't care who won as long as it wasn't Ziggy. As she'd also asked what I was doing instead, I just texted back to say I was watching AC Milan v Seville and, in a sop to her, added 'Hope the twins or Carole win'. Made me a little sad, though I don't regret switching off - I really had no choice.
But there was still a Champion to crack open, and the second half to watch, with a wonderful display of flowing football from Milan.
Have a great weekend, folks.
