Feb. 5th, 2007 10:16 pmTo Portsmouth for my appointment at the Co-operative Bank. The guy was pleasant enough, though the interview didn't go according to plan because for some reason their computer system wouldn't let him in. After taking down my name and contact details, he tried again to log in to the computer and failed. The poor bloke was having a bad morning: he made several mistakes that I had to correct while filling in the form. Because of the technical glitch, he wanted me to come back a third time, but when I'd told him I couldn't come on either Thursday or Friday he settled for going through a paper questionnaire with me about whether I wanted life insurance, a credit card, a mortgage or anything like that (nos across the board), then gave me a leaflet about their ethical policies and said he'd phone me one afternoon this week to take things forward. Somehow I'd expected the whole process of switching my account over to be simpler.
Walked down to the library to see Ann and had a quick chat with her, interrupted several times by her having to serve customers.
Coughing all day, with the odd sneeze creeping in this afternoon. Looks like a cold; please don't let it be bastard flu.
Started on databases at college tonight. Doing OK.
