Sep. 27th, 2006 06:51 pmEarly in the shift, came off a call to hear Sarah #1 and Sarah #4 talking about a band I'd never heard of called Kooks. Sarah #4 said she was going to see them in Bournemouth in December.
I told them I was going to see The Pogues in London at Christmas. They were mucho impressed, and Sarah #1 waxed lyrical about the genius that is Shane MacGowan. I added "They've got a new lady in to sing Fairytale Of New York."
Sarah #1 got up and, as she went past me, replied "Nobody can really replace her."
From someone who, less than eighteen months ago, scoffed when I confessed I'd cried the night the news broke that Kirsty had died, that was touching.
