Aug. 7th, 2006 08:08 pmPhoned FourFourTwo before work started to report the latest cock-up; they promised to send a copy of the new issue. Ho hum.
Just over an hour into the shift I was thinking we'd been short sold again, as the other side had delights including sponge cake and flapjacks on their table and there was no sign of any nibbles on our table, but when I asked Christine #3 about the food she said it was being saved till most of the girls came back from their briefing at 11 am. Sure enough, soon after they returned our supervisors unveiled chocolate digestives, Viennese sandwich biscuits and ... mmmmm... GALAXY CAKE BARS.
I did most of my packet of Love Hearts from the wedding during first coffee break. They've moved with the times since I had my last pack 24 years ago - among the traditional 'My Pal', 'Hug Me' etc. messages was 'Email Me'. Still had 4 left when it was time to get back on the phones; polished them off at second break.
At 2.20 the selector threw me a pleasant but bemused lady, who had an unusual working situation and had a couple of changes of circumstances, so I didn't get away till 2.50. By then, of the 10 Galaxy cake bars, 4 were still lying uneaten, so I helped myself to a second. Waste not, want not.
My tongue is still tingling from the Love Hearts.
