Liverpool v Arsenal in the Champions' League on telly, or Fareham Town v Wimborne Town in the flesh? No contest - especially as tonight was my last chance for a Cams Alders bacon roll this season.
I expected a good game, as Fareham have been hitting form in recent weeks and Wimborne are a good footballing side, although a bad run in their last few games has seen their title bid collapse. It was actually a 0-0 draw, but not bad to watch, as both sides created plenty of goalscoring chances. Wimborne slightly had the upper hand, and had the best chance of the game early in the second half when one striker's shot at an open goal was cleared off the line by a Fareham player and another Wimborne player's try from the rebound was brilliantly tipped around the post by the keeper. Wimborne had a few fans behind the goal with a drum who made a bit of noise, but the general atmosphere was subdued at the final whistle as the draw mathematically ended Wimborne's hopes of the title.
At half-time, the tea hut had the radio commentary of West Ham v Portsmouth on. The guy behind me in the queue asked one of the tea ladies "Arsenal are winning, aren't they?"
"Don't care," she replied with a smile.
