Went to the town hall after work to present the winner of the Valentine Poetry Competition with her prize (the competition was something my mother dreamed up and announced to Council staff and the local paper in an attempt to get more submissions for my poetry box, bless her; she provided the prize but I chose the winner). I was putting up the entries on the board when I heard a lady behind me say "It's by the poetry box." I turned round and saw two women there with the Council photographer, and said hello.

"Which of you's Lymara?" I asked.

"Me!" one of them announced, waving, but her colleague cut in with "She's not Lymara. We're just here to cheer her on."

Lymara wasn't far behind, accompanied by several more girls from her department. She seemed a little embarrassed to have won, and the others were geeing her up about it. I said a few words thanking them all for their interest, then congratulated Lymara and called her up to receive her prize - a box of M&S chocs. We had to re-do my handing her the chocolates, and us shaking hands, so the photographer could get decent shots.

They all appeared about to disperse then, Lymara ignored a couple of her colleagues' shouts of "Speech!", but she, well embarrassed, did give in to their urging her to recite her winning entry. We all cheered and applauded at the end, everyone thanked everyone else, then that really was it.
