Another early start for the drive to Milton Keynes. With SEVEN players absent through holidays, injury or work, we fielded a scratch team. Chantelle, though still recovering from a leg injury, came along with us and volunteered to be sub, but Rob and Ian said no; Jodie, though carrying a dodgy knee, played the full game.
We arrived at the home venue, a school/sports college playing field, at 12.15; the canteen, though they normally close at 12 noon on Sundays, stayed open long enough for Dick and me to try their excellent bacon sandwiches.
We lost 3-0. Our girls couldn't find a way past Milton Keynes' well-organised defence, and their excellent striker scored two well-taken goals. The only bright spot on the day was the news that Abi is joining us on a permanent basis.
Long drive home. Trev, Dick and I stopped at a Tesco Express petrol station in Dunstable for nibbles. Dick dropped me at Havant station; headed for Sophie's Kebabs for a large Doner.
At least I have the free Ramones CD for which I bought today's Star On Sunday - which brings the news that Nadine Coyle is to play a St Trinian's girl in a forthcoming new film. Enough to make me overcome my conviction that that classic canon should be left alone and not added to half a century later :)
