Hawks Ladies away to Newbury in the FA Women's Cup, and where was I? Accompanying Madam Mayor to the Fareham Civic Service.

In truth, I couldn't have got to Newbury without taking my overdraft over the monkey barrier, and the last thing I want is to be facing an angry bank manager plus radging me ma off. And we got a good tea after the Civic Service, with those rectangular cousins of Jaffa cakes, Swiss roll, little coconut domes, and very sweet Rice Krispie and treacle squares. Louise #3 from my office, who's the daughter of the Fareham mayor, was serving tea and coffee! A few of our chain gang were there, including Pat the county council chairman; everyone had been leaving the strawberries alone until I took a couple - that was Pat's cue to start on them herself. Just like starting on all the food, nobody wants to be the first.

Maria wouldn't kiss me as she had lots of slap on, but I did get a full peck on the mouth with Audrey from East Hants (as kissing her on the cheek would have meant knocking her hat).

One of the food tables had a leaflet with all the Fareham Mayor's charity events for the year on. His Charity Ball is on Saturday 21 April, so I can accompany my mother to that instead of her having to take someone else to the Eastleigh ball on the same night. (I couldn't have gone to Eastleigh as Hawks' last home game of the season is that day and I wouldn't have got home on time for our pick-up. Don't get me wrong, I love going to these swish civic events but when you've paid for a season ticket you don't like to miss home games, and being the second-last match of the season there might be something riding on it. [Yeah, like we're going to make the play-offs with our diabolical away form.])

Just found out from the forum that the girls won. No scoreline or any other info yet, but at least we're through to the next round.
