Another two-hour driving lesson in the dark this evening. Yet again my attempt at reversing round a corner disintegrated - I'd thought I was holding the clutch in place, but apparently not, so was going round too fast and missed my point of straightening up. From then on I was manoeuvring blind, just following Peter's instructions. Peter thought the dark had been a factor in my going wrong - it wasn't, but nonetheless he spared me another try at reversing round the corner, and also decided not to bother with a turn in the road tonight. We did go to the driving test centre to have a go at bay parking. Peter said my manoeuvring and slow speed were perfect - it was just a shame that on the first attempt I ended up parking on the line, then on the second try straddled two parking bays, thanks to Peter misjudging my starting point the first time and me misjudging it the second. My open road driving was OK, though, apart from occasionally being too heavy on the brake when waiting at junctions - bringing about that juddering feeling - and on one occasion not slowing down when going through a gap between a parked car and an oncoming one. (Early on I slightly mounted a kerb going round a corner, but that went unnoticed.)
