Hey Soul Sister
Apr. 24th, 2014 08:41 pmA fine episode of Top of the Pops 1979 tonight to accompany the last of my Easter chocolate, opening with a very strong performance from Generation X. The race for my Pop Babe of '79 crown was blown wide open as Eruption lead singer Precious Wilson, beautiful and very sexy in her dreadlocks and pink outfit, slunk around the stage and shook her booty as she sang One Way Ticket with a sultry smile; then, soon after, Amii Stewart, also rocking a sexy outfit, popped the moves in a video performance of Knock On Wood.
Glad to see Boney M's It's A Holi Holiday this week, I loved that song as a kid - and I remember a parody on The Mersey Pirate about their ship's chef : "Pierre, hooray, he's the galloping gourmet, he's not a cook, he's more of a crook, and he gives you the gallops all day!" Late 70s kids' TV rocked. And Maizie Williams was looking rather lovely tonight. Truly a great episode for gorgeous Afro-Caribbean women.
The Monks gave us a good laugh with Nice Legs - Shame About The Face. Let no-one complain it's a sexist record - the man gets his come-uppance at the end, it's just a humorous novelty disc. Alas, just a 30 second snatch of Bright Eyes again as the BBC still won't pay for the rights to show more than that of Watership Down.
