Back To The Sixties
Apr. 13th, 2014 10:15 amWent to the village British Legion last night to see the late 60s/early 70s bubblegum group The Cuff-Links. I arrived while the support act, a pretty good soul singer, was on; they'd reserved a table for me. A couple of people around the club, seeing my LTFC jacket, tutted and said "What happened to them today, then?" but all were optimistic that we'd still do it.
The Cuff-Links, once they got going after a technical fault with the equipment was sorted, were brilliant. They did a set of 60s classic songs and included the second of their two hits When Julie Comes Around early on. Their drummer, a bit of a nutcase, was given a section in the second half of their set to come out front on his own and lead the audience in sing-alongs of choruses and snatches from songs like Delilah and Do Wah Diddy Diddy. They finished with their million seller Tracy.
A damn good night out, right here in our village.
