Chinatown

Hardcore Sue came over from Hemel Hempstead last night to join me at the Axe and Compass for their Chinese New Year banquet. The starter and main course each consisted of samples of different Chinese dishes, and, as we observed, you sure got big portions. All very tasty, but we were both totally stuffed by the end The sweet was a delicious lemon sorbet, plus a plateful of Chinese biscuits and sweets. I pocketed most of the sweets for the weekend.

Over a real ale, Sue and I compared lives and exchanged gossip about old mutual friends. Sue reckoned that, as each other's only friends in the area, we ought to make a pact to meet once a month, taking turns to travel to each other. Given that both of us have credit card bills we're struggling to pay, I persuaded her to make it every two months, and so she'll be showing me the delights of Olly's Bar in Hemel in April.
