Sugar Baby Love
Jun. 5th, 2012 10:40 amWent to the last night of the Waterfront Festival yesterday. Met my cousins Jacqui and Gayle, Jacqui's boyfriend Jim and a couple of their kids, and a few of their friends. We stood (and danced) together for Alex Dyke's Bubblegum and Cheese Roadshow.
When the Roadshow gave way to dance music, after a quick chat with two old pals from FE college I bumped into en route, I headed for the chip van for a bacon roll then over to the VIP tent (Smiffy had got me a pass) for a Stowford Press.
The show ended with the Glam City Rockers - Bob Bradley from Hello, the Doctor from Doctor and the Medics, Jackie from Girlschool, and Jon and Pete from the Glitter Band. They played a selection of the hits from all their groups and threw in a couple of Sweet numbers. The Doctor dedicated Ballroom Blitz to the Queen "for standing in the rain for four hours this afternoon, like you did for us on Saturday". At the end Alex Dyke came on stage and brought the Mayor on to say a few words. Then Alex thanked the people involved in making the Festival happen and asked us "Do you want another festival next year?" We all yelled a resounding yes; I reflected that I won't be in Gosport next summer. The Rockers came back on to close the evening with Tiger Feet.
