Apr. 23rd, 2011 10:37 amWoke up yesterday morning with an agonising pain in my left foot. Stumbled around all day unable to put my foot down properly. I wondered whether I'd somehow broken a bone in it earlier in the week. It was only just after 9.30 when I mentioned my foot pain to the parents, that my father guessed straight away what it was, and a quick examination of the red swelling at the joint at the base of my big toe confirmed it.
Gout.
Not, alas, from an excess of good living in my case; gout runs in my family and has now caught up with me.
My father, a sufferer himself, let me have one of his tablets. Didn't sleep a wink with the pain.
Another tablet this morning. Still limping and still painful but not as bad as yesterday, touch wood...
