Mar. 24th, 2011 08:21 pmAt my last blood donation four months ago the lady who said she'd made me an appointment turned out not to have. As a result, at this evening's session I simply dropped in - and had to wait over an hour before I got seen.
At least this time there was no doubt about my finger sample - after floating briefly, it sank slowly but surely to the bottom of the tube. And although Chris my carer at first lost the vein she'd found and thought she was going to have to send for Pete, she located my vein again and was able to take my donation without his help. When she plastered my arm up post-donation, she and a colleague proudly observed that they'd done three 'Peter veins' without having to enlist his assistance.
On my way out made sure the lady booked me in for next time.
