Getting my pre-match scoff in the Heron this afternoon, I had my money ready to pay the barman for my coffee when I noticed an Olympic-themed 50p piece dated 2011 shining up at me. Thinking I might have a valuable rare coin on my hands I beatled back over to my jacket to stash it in my pocket and substitute another.

No sign of Dick and Lauren today. They had the right idea as Hawks, admittedly missing four players through injury and suspension, were dire and were deservedly gubbed 3-0 by a Farnborough side who'll have no trouble making the play-offs. And ex-Hawk Paul Booth scored - the bugger could never turn it on like that when he played for us, though he did give us a comedy miss later for old times' sake. Just after kick-off, among the Farnborough fans making their way around the pitch to the goal they were attacking was a man with '18 Yarder' on the back of his shirt - I immediately remembered meeting him and his partner a few years ago. Shame [livejournal.com profile] whalefish couldn't make it down today.

After the game, wandered over to Havant Argos in search of a pair of jelly earphones. They had several types, and fortunately for both me and the staff, who were clearly counting down the minutes to closing time, I only had to wait a few minutes.

Back home, went online to research whether I was sitting on a fortune with my prematurely-issued 50p coin. No such luck, there are loads of them circulating :(
