Last night's Hampshire Cup tie with Beastleigh was called off an hour before kick-off thanks to the pitch freezing - too late to stop me travelling to Westleigh Park, and too late to cancel the day's annual leave I'd booked for today. That did allow me another televisual date with Jennie this morning, then the rest of the day was devoted to replacing my mobile phone.

My phone, a second-hand Nokia 3310 bought eighteen months ago, has recently taken to switching itself off at random when I'm just a short time into a call. It would appear to have a loose battery connection from having been dropped a couple of times. So this morning I needed to open the phone to get the Sim card out - but anyone who's ever owned a Nokia 3310 will know that they are a bark to open. Finally I had to give up and jemmy the thing apart with a screwdriver - fortunately not damaging the SIM card.

For anyone wondering why I didn't qualify for an upgrade : the phone Vodafone gave me, the Vodafone Simply, works, but it's hopelessly naff and cumbersome so I don't use it.

From there it was on to Argos, to purchase a Vodafone pay-as-you-go on special offer at £9.99. It was compulsory to purchase £10 airtime with it; even though I won't use the pay-as-you-go time or the SIM card, a score still represented a better deal than any phone I could buy new elsewhere. Back home to insert my pay-monthly SIM card into the new phone - it works.

I will miss my old Whole Again ringtone, but on the bright side this model has FM radio and digital camera.
