Nov. 25th, 2010 07:40 pmTo the Thorngate this evening to give blood. When I arrived, posted a status on Facebook via text message; as I waited to be called, Hardcore Sue and Smiffy kept me amused with a series of blood-related punning comments.
There was no problem with my pinprick sample of blood this time. Lin, my initial carer, had to call Pete the venepuncturist over again, as the vein she found was "lovely, but deep and wobbly." Pete got the needle inserted without a hitch, and advised me to tighten my thigh muscles at the same time as closing my fist. Completed the donation fairly quick. After a cup of water and a packet of crisps, it was time to book an appointment for four months' time; as I didn't have my donor card, the lady had to look up my number on the appointment sheet, but I wonder if she had the right one as she told me I was already booked in for 24 March! She then booked me in for 5.35pm that night - at least she said it was me...
