Demelza brought a box of Thornton's chocolates in today to share out, first warning us that they were two months out of date. The general consensus was that they'd be fine, as chocolate takes ages to go off - I revealed that I once found a six-month-old Double Decker that I'd forgotten about and that it had looked and tasted fine. Simon said it was sacrilege to let Thornton's chocs go over date; Demelza explained that she'd had several boxes and that with the best will in the world she, her husband and her wee lad would never have finished them all within date. Bev reckoned we'd all be off sick tomorrow (but still went back for seconds).
