Bumped into fellow Hawk Simon, who started work at our office this week, in the stairwell. We had a good old chat about footie for a while before going our separate ways, he in search of the gym and I to the shop for a fresh pint of milk.

Keeping 'em crossed for lovely Niamh Kavanagh tonight!

Lovely Niamh got to the final (was it ever in doubt?), and so did the Welsh Cypriots, so it seems churlish to quibble about who else qualified, but I do feel sorry for the Dutch. This is the sixth year in a row they've been knocked out in the semis, and their bouncy, catchy number, complete with Wurlitzer - and written by Father Abraham of Smurfs fame, no less - was perfect for Eurovision. I wouldn't blame NOS now if they did a RAI and pulled out altogether.

And look at a couple who did go through. Israel - dull. Ukraine - only three chords, dirge, dirge and dirge.

Still, better for Niamh if she's up against some dire songs :)
