Apr. 23rd, 2010 12:48 pmLast day of Pass Plus. A short stretch of motorway driving on the M27 then we took the Alton turn-off for a morning on country roads. All went OK; my only problems happened on the familiar roads of Gosport and Fareham thanks to the differences in Peter's gear lever meaning I sometimes had trouble finding the right place and had to adjust it quick, leading Peter to remark "Shift the gear lever gently, don't animalise it." We ended with a talk about night driving and all-weather driving - unfortunately at this time of year it wasn't convenient for Peter to offer a time that would have allowed us to actually do some driving in darkness (as far as all-weather went, Peter said it was a shame I hadn't booked to do the course on the snow days in January), so we ran through the correct usage of side and head lights on lit and unlit roads, fog lights, aquaplaning and the like. And that was it, Peter finishing with a reminder to keep driving on motorways regularly to keep my eye in.
