Apr. 12th, 2010 06:18 pmHave had a seriously itchy nose for the last day or so. A sneezing fit this morning prompted Demelza to ask whether I had a cold or hay fever. I confirmed it was the latter, and added that every year I'm getting it earlier and earlier. Bloody global warming. Sue said she'd heard that local honey can help with hay fever, as eating it over a period of time gives you a tolerance of the local pollen. Demelza added that it'd be too late to help this year, but if I started now I should get the benefit next year. I observed that while I take a spoonful of honey a day, the stuff I'm on at the moment is from New Zealand. "That'd be all right if you went to New Zealand," Sue replied deadpan, and recommended farmers' markets as the best source of true local honey. The next Fareham farmers' market isn't till 1 May, and the one at Winchester is a bit far to trek, so Hampshire Honey from Waitrose will have to do for the rest of the month...
