Demelza arrived this morning bearing what was clearly a food treat covered in silver foil. It turned out to be a chocolate cake topped with Mini Eggs - "Bad luck, Wilhelmus," was Bev's comment to me. After overcoming her reluctance to be first to cut the cake, Bev threatened to provide a detailed commentary for my benefit about how luscious the cake was but didn't go through with it. Demelza asked me how long was left of Lent.

"9 days."

She said she could see me sitting up until midnight on Easter Saturday, chocolate in hand, watching my watch and counting down. I replied that I wouldn't be doing that but would certainly have an Easter egg on Easter morning.

"I cannot believe it will be an egg," was Sue's comment.

Knocked off at lunch time. Wishing Ray luck for Sunday (he's going to see Southampton at Wembley) he asked if my ladies were playing this weekend.

"Yes, I'm off to Newquay with my girls."

Mel #1 and Demelza found the reference to 'my girls' highly amusing; cue a round of innuendo about my motives for being involved with a women's team, while Ray cheekily claimed that he'd like to come and see them play some time.

Home, via Chickoribs, to see the mighty Double R's destroy the Deccan Chargers in the Indian Premier League.
