Mar. 5th, 2010 07:21 pmAfter work yesterday, went up to Liss to see the Hawks Ladies play their three-months-delayed Portsmouth Cup quarter-final with Southampton Saints. It was a freezing evening - my toes had icicles hanging off them by full time - and a scrappy old game, but the girls won 4-2. Over the post-match nibbles Mike confessed to the girls that his attempt to give up chocolate and chips for Lent had lasted less than a day. On hearing that I was keeping up my own chocolate abstention, Mike tried to tempt me with the chocolate cakes topped with a Button, and made a great show of eating two of them. Billie and Becky asked if I was going to buy myself a massive Easter egg.
Dick gave me a lift back to Portsmouth Harbour so I was home by 11. Opted to have a half hour lie-in this morning - until 5 am - and start work at 7.40. Most people in my section knock off early on Fridays and usually I'm no exception, but I needed to rack up some extra flex hours so plodded on until just before 5 pm. Demelza, Sue and Ray all gasped in disbelief when they heard how late I'd be staying. Was indeed on my own for the last 40 minutes and had the task of locking the cupboards up.
Home via the takeaway to put my feet up. ThankCrunchie goodness (still keeping up my Lent) it's Friday.
