Oct. 6th, 2009 07:09 pmAt about 6.30 pm on Sunday, I got a sudden pain in what seemed to be the stomach, that within an hour became vicious stabbing agony and didn't relent all evening. I tried to relax, but no use - comfort was impossible and whenever I laid down I got an extra agonising feeling of needing the toilet. Once they heard the pain was worst on my right side, the parents were diagnosing appendicitis. Finally I arranged to see the duty doctor at War Memorial hospital at 11 pm. After pressing down on different areas of my stomach and asking where it hurt worst, the doctor sent me off to give a urine sample. From testing that, he said I might have a urinary infection. He gave me a week's course of antibiotics and told me to see my GP after completing the course, since apparently urinary infections are rare in men so I'll need to give a second sample then.
Got no sleep that night. Have been sitting at home yesterday and today watching TV and sleeping. Still have some pain in the kidney region and the stomach, which gets momentarily worse after meals, but the worst seems to be over (fingers crossed).
