Sep. 13th, 2009 05:58 pmAt breakfast this morning, apropos of nothing, my mother asked why I didn't replace my usual cup of coffee with a fruit juice. Naturally I was curious as to what had brought that on, and got the answer "I'm concerned about your weight. You've put on a few pounds lately." I pointed out that coffee is non-fattening and she replied with some gobbledegook about wanting to expand into broader talk about healthy eating and drinking.
I do know that I'm carrying a few extra pounds and that I've been overeating over the last few months, but I don't care to be reminded of it and I am making a serious effort to eat less.
On top of that, Miss Sapphire is still sometimes on my mind, and with my having committed to the gathering of the clan in Yorkshire next week, I'll not only be missing the Ladies' home game with Swindon but will also be away from a telly on Friday night and so unable to vote for my Jade in Strictly. And the Ladies have no match on the 27th and only a 50/50 chance of a match on the 4th. Just to cap it all, I've stupidly allowed my supply of Benadryl Plus to run short so have been sneezing like anything all day. So I've been very much in the dumps today.
Texted Vanessa to ask whether she'd be watching Strictly on Friday and so able to text me the voting number, but no such luck - she's a big Ken Stott fan so for her Friday night is Rebus night.
When the Hawk girls went 1-0 down midway through the first half, and in the middle of a particularly violent sneezing fit with my head now throbbing, that looked like the cherry on the cake. My girls came back to roar into a 2-1 lead early in the second half; but hopes that the black cloud would be chased away were dashed when Yeovil got a breakaway equaliser.
At the end, went around the people I knew saying "see you in a month" :(
