Back to Westleigh Park last night for Hawks' friendly with Brighton. The game was actually a dull uninspiring affair and Hawks lost 2-0, but for most of us the point of these pre-season games is to meet up with old friends again and cast an eye over the new signings. Had a good chat with Steph and also caught up with Simon, Mark, Matt, Sharon and Ken. Steph and I both hoped our cheap-rate Pompey Blues season tickets would come through in time and agreed that, on principle, we wouldn't pay £10 go to the first game against Thurrock if they hadn't arrived by then - Steph and her male companion said they'd be outside the ground "giving each other a bunk-up", then straight away realised what she'd said... Of the new boys, Gary Macdonald looks like a useful left back while Manny Williams and Mustafa Teryaki have the potential to be a quality strike partnership. Despite the game being an all round damp squib I'm quietly optimistic about the new season.

Spent today looking up more post codes, then after work I had to walk, in blazing sun, over to the CityLink depot on the Warsash Road to collect my new East Stirlingshire shirt. Had to wait over half an hour for the bus - thankfully it had cooled down a bit. Home, via the newsagent for a cold Pepsi.

Lady Mélisande's Facebook page says she is now single <3 Hope the gift from Åland I sent her arrived safely...
