Jun. 2nd, 2009 10:06 pmAt the top of the shift, when I passed Sue #5's desk Denise - the lady who interviewed me, back when I applied for the telephone unit job five years ago - was there talking to Sue and Marilyn. Of course I stopped by to say hello. Things had really come full circle, as Denise knew - she'd heard the good news of my promotion from Sue - so she warmly congratulated me, asked how long it was since that first interview, and mused that she wouldn't see me again. I said there was every chance we'd bump into each other around the building somewhere. Sue chipped in "We're going to miss you."
With her own departure less than three weeks away, I replied "I wouldn't have fancied hanging around here without you around." And I meant it.
"See, Sue," Denise smiled at her. "You are loved." Then she turned to me. "I was loved, wasn't I?" nodding and mouthing 'yes' to me.
"I didn't have to induce him, did I?" Sue smiled.
