Apr. 1st, 2009 03:35 pmWe had a one-and-a-half hour staff meeting today. There was a speaker addressing us at length about progression of the office's business plan for the past year and aims for the year ahead - little of it seemed directly related to what we do on the ground, and his grip on the attention of most of us was tenuous. When he'd finished Cathy whispered that her bum had gone numb. Next came Bev, one of our senior managers (the first time we'd heard her speak in the last four years) to give us a talk on Performance Management. That only left twenty minutes or so for the last two guys, so they each gave us a brief talk about Diversity and the new Ideas Committee respectively.
On our way back up to the telephone unit two of the girls said they'd fallen asleep at one point. In the entertainment stakes, I admit this meeting was a damp squib, but anything that gets us off the phones for 90 minutes gets a great big gormless thumbs up from me.
