Pat has actually heard from the tour operator. They've emailed her to say the woman who's dealing with Island Games accommodation is away at the moment but will be back at the end of the week. Needless to say I haven't heard a dicky bird from them at either email address I used.

I have had an email from the proprietress of one holiday village on Åland, albeit over 25 kilometres from Mariehamn, to say she has small cottages available for rent. I've replied to ask her about cost, and about location so I can check whether they're served by a late evening bus from Mariehamn. If they are, and the price won't max out my credit card, then the holiday could just be on.
