Several people at the office asked if I'd considered going camping in Mariehamn this summer. I replied that it'd be a bit draughty as I don't own a tent. Pat is still waiting for replies to a couple of e-mails she sent off, and today found a campsite in Mariehamn with an attached B&B - she figured that that might have escaped the tour operator's monopolistic clutches, so has emailed them to ask if they have a room.

During the second half of the shift I thought of a possible solution, albeit one that would involve only seeing the daytime events and entail a lot more expense. If the tour operators have booked up all the accommodation in Åland, then I could stay in Kapellskär and take the ferry across every day. If Pat and Sue's searches don't come up trumps, and the tour operators don't get back to me, by next Wednesday, I'll seriously look into that.
