GO NICOLE COOKE! Shame about the lady archers losing the bronze to those pesky French madames by one point though.

To Chichester for the Hawk girls' friendly. Arrived at the venue with over an hour till kick-off, but, alas, the clubhouse bar was shut. I went for a wander in the hope of finding a pub, but there was no watering hole within walking distance except the bar of the Minerva Theatre. As you might expect, there was no telly there, let alone Sky Sports, but the bar staff were friendly enough and I passed a pleasant half-hour with several Pepsis with ice, and a cake that was very tasty (I should hope so too at £2.25).

Sitting out in the theatre's upstairs foyer, one of the front-of-house staff spotted my 'Team Big Brother' T-shirt and asked if I worked on Big Brother! I explained that it was a robot team from Robot Wars. That had him believing that I was one of the people who made the robots...

Got back to the ground to learn that Erin had injured her fingers during warm-up. That was causing consternation through the camp, especially as Ella hadn't come (she wasn't feeling well). People were talking about putting Jenna D or Sabrina in goal. Sally groaned when she saw who the referee was; she reckoned he hated her and that he knew all the Chichester girls so it'd be roses all the way for them.

As the team warmed up Claire was asked if she'd take a turn in goal and wasn't amused; in the end Sally was game, but Erin said she was OK to start.

Rob was experimenting today, playing the first half with Telé as a lone striker supported by Abi and starting all the new girls, before reverting to the familiar line-up and tactics for the second. Erin played the whole game. Then again, she wasn't that busy; we were 2-0 up at half-time and ran out 6-0 winners, Telé notching a hat-trick. During the second half Lisa and the substituted girls were talking about the Community Shield (lots of the girls are Pompey fans) and Jenna was asking "Does anyone want to know the latest score?" Lisa didn't - presumably she was Sky Plussing it.

To the Slug and Lettuce for eats; train home.
