I fucking hate Vodafone.

A week ago I rang them to pay this month's bill on my credit card, to avoid the payment coming out of my bank by direct debit like it usually does, since I really can't afford to lose the money from my bank account this month. The lady I spoke to told me that was fine, and, once she confirmed the credit card payment, said my bill for this month was paid and my bank account definitely wouldn't be charged on the 9th.

Just logged in to my bank account online to find they did charge me the full amount of my bill on the 9th. So they've charged me twice, and taken money I can't afford to lose.

Rang Vodafone Customer Service. The guy admitted I had indeed been billed twice and agreed to put the overpayment back in my bank account, then put me on hold for TEN FUCKING MINUTES listening to awful tinny music...before coming back on the line to say he couldn't help me. He could credit the overpayment to my credit card, but not put the money back in my bank account. I told him that was no use, and that I needed the money back in my bank account or I wouldn't make it to the end of the month, as I have no overdraft facility. He just said "I'm sorry" and fell silent like a soggy pudding. The fact that I made the credit card payment first, and therefore the direct debit payment was the second, illegal one and the one that should be refunded, didn't seem to matter a shit. Perhaps showing a hint of my irritation, I told him to forget it and leave my account in credit. He begged me more than once to accept having the money credited to my credit card, but I told him firmly that that was not the slightest use to me and to just leave my account in credit. He droned on about being sorry for the inconvenience, but he, just like the whole of Vodafone, didn't really care a rat's about my not having enough money to make it to the end of the month.

Useless twazzucks. The worst thing is that two days ago I committed myself to Vodafone for six more months - and my previous commitment wasn't due to run out until November, so I'm saddled with them until next May. Even then, do I want all the bother that changing my number would bring?

I now face having to borrow thirty quid from someone if I'm going to make it to any more Hawk friendlies this month. I'd rather gulp cyanide than ask anyone I know for a £30 loan, but I don't have a choice.

Anyone know the location of Vodafone's UK headquarters and a supplier of Semtex?
