Jun. 23rd, 2008 10:30 pmAt lunch, spotted a poster advertising a blood donation session at the office on Thursday 3 July. That's clearly going to be easier than making the mile-long walk from Fareham bus station to St John's Church the day before, so cue yet another phone call to the National Blood Service...
Was sitting in the lounge with a cold can of Grapetiser an hour or so before my shift started when Paul entered to make himself a cup of tea. Spotting me, he asked "Are you in mourning?" I also got sympathy during the shift from Sarah #1 and Sue #4. Sue even said she'd been in tears when Holland lost on Saturday night. A woman after my own heart. I told her how I'd paced my hotel room kicking the furniture. All asked who I thought would win now; I replied Russia. Sarah said "The Germans are going to win. They always do." She frowned, then raised a smile as she added "bloody krauts." Leaving aside her fit of non-PC-ness, she's forgetting they've won bugger all for 12 years.
Coming back from a break just after ten past eight, I was stopped by Pat, who took me off to Room 101 to talk over my self-appraisal I'd written months ago. She showed me her comments, which were highly complimentary, said a few words about how happy she and the supervisors were with my performance and said she was going to recommend me for an 'exceeded mark'. I've no idea what an exceeded mark is, but from the context it sounded like something positive.
