May. 22nd, 2008 06:06 pmWent along to the Thorngate to give blood, as arranged months ago. I brought the copy of More Tales of the Black Widowers I'd bought from Amazon Marketplace last month for the express purpose of reading while I waited - I'd kept it in reserve all that time, resisting the temptation to dip in before today. There was quite a wait; I got through one chapter and the beginning of the second before being called for my health check.
I'd had to tick yes to 'Have you had any illness or infection within the last 2 weeks?' The assistant doing my check asked me about that, so I told her I'd had gut rot with the runs last week. She went away, and a nurse arrived to tell me that I wouldn't be able to donate because there was a risk my blood would still be carrying the infection. I can't give until two weeks after the ailment ended. The lady on the 'Please book your next donation here' desk told me there was a session on Thursday 5 June but there were no appointments left, so advised me to just drop in at around 4.15 that day to give me a good chance of being called soon after they open at 4.30.
* keeping fingers crossed for Charlotte *
