I've just been watching the Junior Eurovision Song Contest via webstream.
My favourites were the Belgians, a very talented young group, the girl from Sweden, and the Greek girl group (who wore wedding dresses and tossed a bouquet among themselves, until the start of the second verse when they pulled the dresses off to reveal T-shirts and torn jeans) - all of whom did pop-rock songs.
Only Sweden even came in the top half. The only country to give Belgium points was their neighbour the Netherlands; only Cyprus gave the poor Greek girls anything - and I'm in absolute shock that that was only 2. Where were you when your sisters needed you, Cypriots? :(
For what it's worth, Armenia (a high-camp girl group in pirate outfits) looked like winners all the way, till Belarus (cheesy solo boy) overtook them on the penultimate vote. The only country left to vote was...Belarus. If they gave Armenia 8 or more, they'd deprive themselves of victory. They gave Armenia 7. Hmmm.
