Oct. 6th, 2007 09:32 pmHawks at home to Bath City, Galey's first game in charge. On my way to the stand I passed Trevor, who gave me two pieces of news : Charlie Oatway is the new assistant manager, and the girls will be away at Newport Pagnell on the 21st - a week after we play them at home!
We had a bigger crowd than usual. At the conclusion of the tannoy announcements, Galey still hadn't run out with the teams, then Trev announced "Our new manager - Shaun Gale!" and he jogged over from the tunnel to the dugout to a generous round of applause.
Richard Pacquette fired into the roof of the net from point-blank range after 10 minutes. That turned out to be the only goal of a scrappy game. At half-time, when Trevor read the Blue Square South half-times he ended the list with "And I'm sure this one will go down well - Bishop's Stortford 1, Eastleigh - you guessed it - nil". Huge cheer. Kevin Scriven secured all three points for us with several good saves in the second half. One of those days when you're just glad to win.
X Factor was a real tease tonight - they showed us the judges deliberating over who to put through, but won't tell us who their actual choices were until tomorrow! From Simon's comments that were shown on Xtra Factor, I think Same Difference are out :( and haven't a clue what's happening to W4. Worse, I won't be back from Kirstyfest VII in time for tomorrow night's show so will have to discover my girls' fate second-hand on the Net...
