Jun. 4th, 2007 09:09 pmTo Portsmouth to buy my new Dr Martens. At tReds they were having a clearance sale with 75% off certain shoes; they had one pair of size 12 DMs, in navy, but they weren't included in the sale. They were full price, £54.95. At least they have proper strong soles that won't have holes worn in them within six weeks - and I had found a £10 note in the middle of the road just after I'd set off :)
At college tonight Niki, Liz and I all did our Desktop Publishing exam. Niki and I were both finished in less than an hour; Joan quickly looked at the answers she herself had done to see if ours matched them. They didn't, but we immediately pointed out that that was down to a mistake she'd made. Joan glanced over the exam paper and conceded we might be right. Then we went downstairs for a cup of coffee and a chat. We're both fairly confident we've passed (fingers crossed); Liz took a bit longer, but soon came down to join us. She hadn't had as smooth a time - she had the same problem as me: when altering the size of our body text to get the columns to both go down to the bottom of the page, the best we could get was the second column stopping three-quarters of a line short. Niki and I reflected that you're allowed two fails anyway so we ought to be OK. Since we won't know until next week whether we have to redo the exam, once we'd finished our coffees and all been to the loo we went home.
