Apr. 25th, 2007 07:02 pmHad to do my Annual Self-Assessment today, typing on an online form my own appraisal of how far I've met the objectives of my job. That was over an hour at the beginning of the shift nicely taken care of. When I reported to Val that I'd hit 'submit and close', she said she'd e-mail me an invitation to a meeting with her to discuss it tomorrow. I reminded her I've taken tomorrow as official holiday. As the only mornings she does are Wednesday and Thursday, and the next of those days that I'm working is May 17, in desperation Val said we'd have our meeting today. So at 1.45 she and I went off to the coding block's Room 101 (Heather #1 was grilling someone in our own) and she flagged up a couple of points I needed to tweak. Apart from those she was completely satisfied, especially as I'd found plenty to write - she found that most of her people had, but knew of someone, who she wouldn't name, who'd written just a single line! Because during previous assessments (before we had to write our own) I'd had it flagged up that I do too many shift swaps, I'd included a defence of my shift-swapping, but Val said she wasn't worried about my shift swaps - she's only concerned about people doing too many swaps in their probationary year, when she can't monitor them if they're not in on Wednesday or Thursday.
Meanwhile, we had three boxes of mini chocolate and cream eclairs on the nibbles table. Lovely jubbly.
My last interview overran by a few minutes. Went to the coffee lounge to wait for the bus. Watched Sky News until the one working PC became free; learned of the death of Alan Ball.
