Another Red Nose cake day at the office, though we didn't have to bake the cakes ourselves for this one - just lots of bought Battenburgs, cherry bakewells etc, though Janet did bring in some of her (very nice) home-made Rocky Road.

Tried to input my Friday payclaim and got an error message saying I'd already input one. Went into the view of my month's payclaims; there was one in there for Friday, but it had an error message. I went over to Kevin, who said he'd checked and my Friday claim had been rejected. He advised me to input a new one with the start and finish times five minutes later, but that got bounced too as it still overlapped with the phantom claim. So in the end I had to put in a new claim, pretending I'd worked the Friday evening shift. What a lot.

One elderly lady doing her last interview said at the end "Please compliment your supervisor, as every one of your people who I've spoken to has been most courteous." The very end of the shift was less pleasant. First came an old man who at first just said it wasn't convenient right now, but when I asked him what would be a good time, he switched to "What is the survey for?" then ended the call with a brusque "Ah, forget it, I don't want to take part any more." Then, catching someone in at 2.17, I hoped to get away with making an appointment, but he insisted on doing it then, so I missed the bus by minutes. As Christine #3 came by, she must have seen I was visibly radged off, as she asked what was up. I told her, and she just said I should have given her a wave and she'd have come and taken over.

Sue #3 was still at her booth. I walked over and told her of my misfortune; she asked if I wouldn't be quicker walking the four miles to Fareham than waiting an hour for the next bus, but by now it wouldn't have been and I didn't fancy a four-mile walk anyway. She reminisced about a bloke who used to work on the evening shift who she used to give lifts to, then suggested I learn to drive. I told her I will be having driving lessons later this year, but that even then I won't be able to afford a car - "What would I buy one with? Not our blooming wages!" Sue laughed and said I had a point.

So it was down to the coffee lounge, but it was crowded again - among the gathering at one of the tables was Christine #1, but she didn't seem to notice me - one guy was watching the racing on Channel 4, and there were bloody builders using both the PCs for much of the time, so I had to sit and read When Saturday Comes till one of them left at 3.07.

Called at Woolies in Fareham to buy the Girls Aloud and Sugababes Comic Relief record. Of course, being rush hour, the bus back to Gosport got caught in the A32 crawl.
