Feb. 21st, 2007 09:08 pmWas relaxing in one of the armchairs in the canteen before the start of the shift when my phone rang. It was Rachel wanting a shift swap so she can go to a friend's birthday in Farnborough next Tuesday. Happy to oblige.
With coming off the antibiotics today and Portsmouth Reserves due to face Arsenal Reserves at Westleigh Park this evening, the plan was to mark the end of my enforced exile from alcohol with a cheap Magners before watching a cracking game of football. Well, I got the Magners... 25 minutes before kick-off I was halfway through drinking it when word went round the clubhouse that the game was off. Sure enough, club officials had just decided that the pitch was too wet.
I downed the rest of my drink and headed straight for the station. Home for Dragons' Den.
