Nov. 15th, 2006 04:15 pmConversation in the unit this morning led to my lamenting that I'm £180 overdrawn. Sarah #1 said why didn't I take on a regular third shift as they were advertising for people to increase their hours. I wondered whether that would be possible with my mayoral duties. Angela asked whether I didn't get a Consort's Allowance from the Council, since the role is stopping me earning more at work; she felt that would be fair. I had to smile as I replied that I thought a Consort's Allowance was a splendid idea but I didn't think the Council would!
I'm A Celebrity 6 was the talk of the office this morning. Carolyn engaged me in a long conversation about it by the nibbles table when we happened to go to the front desk at the same time. She's a big Jason Donovan fan. I told her Myleene is my favourite and she chuckled "I can understand that!" She added "Did you see her taking a shower?" Carol intervened and told us to tell her what we'd come to see her for then get back on the phones...
Later on, during my coffee break, I began to give serious thought to the idea of going to three shifts a week. I do need the dosh, and on reflection it occurred to me that my mother and I don't have very many functions on Friday daytimes, and what ones we do have, she could easily do alone. So I came back early from break, approached Sarah #1 and asked her who to see about taking on a third shift every Friday. She sent me over to Lorna, who said she wasn't sure if there were any more vacancies now but to e-mail her and copy it to Mary, and she'd let me know soon.
