Aug. 16th, 2006 07:02 pmOn the nibbles table this morning we had a hangover from the World Cup - a tub of Asda's 'World Cup Celebration Manager's Mix' savoury coated peanuts. Very tasty - I went for a handful every time I had to go to, or past, the front desk.
BB7 was the talk of the office today. All the girls in my row and the one opposite were chatting about last night's C4 show, with Richard's "I'm Grace, I'm Grace, I'm in-yer-face" performance and Nikki going ballistic again. Amanda said her teenage daughter was just like Nikki! When Paulette brought up Aisleyne's epiphany in the diary room, Sarah #1 and Sarah #4 spoke sympathetically of her, I told them I'm an Aisleyne fan and always have been - that got me a few smiles, but Amanda said "I don't like her." The Sarahs want Glyn to win! Later, when I went to the lounge for coffee break, as soon as I sat down Sarah #3 asked who I thought was going to win. I said Pete. She asked who I wanted to win, I replied Aisleyne, and she said "I like Richard."
At 2.23, on what I'd decided would be my last call before packing up, the computer lobbed me a three person household - and the lady was in, and when I asked if we could arrange a time to do the survey she was keen to do it now. I asked her to hold on, went up to Val (without stopping for peanuts!) and asked her if anyone could take over from me, but she said nobody was staying till three today. She advised me to make an appointment for us to call the lady another time, but with her being willing now I couldn't mess her about (and I wasn't averse to the prospect of an extra half hour's pay). The trouble was, Cathy was in today, so I had to go up to her and explain that I couldn't go home with her as I was stuck on the phone, then return to my booth, get my headset back on, apologise for keeping the lady waiting and do the interview. She did herself and her husband, but wanted her son to answer for himself so we had to arrange an appointment for him. That was a bit of a disappointment, as she'd answered on his behalf last year, and doing him would have put yet another 10 minutes or so on my wages - as it was, it just meant more time hanging around waiting for the 3.40 bus.
When I'd shut down my workstation and put my headphones away, I went back to the front desk but they'd already put the tub of savoury nuts away till tomorrow. Pants.
