May. 19th, 2006 10:04 pmShopping in Asda today, I saw they've produced a range of 'World Cup Crisps'. In big bags only, they come in German Sausage, French Frog's Legs and Garlic, Brazilian Salsa, Italian Arrabiatta, Argentinian Beef and, strangely, Vindaloo (representing England) flavours. The bags are designed like the back of a football shirt, with the flavour where the player's name goes and a big number in the middle - 10 for both France and Argentina (presumably for Zidane and Maradona respectively), 9 for Brazil (I guess for Ronaldo). England being 66 was perhaps understandable, but was it necessary for the Germany pack to have '5-1' instead of a shirt number? Why not 6 for Franz the Kaiser? And I know Vindaloo was an England football song, but surely they should be English fish and chip flavour.
I couldn't resist a packet of the French ones, and very tasty they were too. At first I wondered why Asda hadn't been a bit more adventurous and done flavours for more of the competing countries (why not DUTCH CHEESE flavour, Portuguese sardine flavour, Spanish paella flavour, Mexican chilli flavour, Swiss cheese flavour, American hamburger flavour, Russian caviar flavour, Japanese sushi flavour, Tunisian couscous flavour, Australian vegemite flavour...?) Then, looking at the empty bag, I saw it had 'World Cup Winners' written across the bottom. Of course - all the countries they've done flavours for have won the World Cup. For a moment I thought it was a shame poor old Uruguay were the only World Cup winners left out, but I soon remembered that they didn't qualify for Germany06.
I am totally supporting Lisa on BB7. She's a bitter single who's given up hope (like me), she's got no game plan and she's completely natural and down to earth. Grand lass. So, all my UK readers, LISA 2 WIN please. Thanks muchly.
