The Jury Summoning Bureau phoned this morning to say they've got too many jurors for November and, as a result, my jury service has been cancelled. Arrr, bilge rats. :(

Most people are happy to get off jury duty.

Your sense of civic responsibility is to be applauded.

Thanks! I genuinely like going to the courts and participating in the jury process (I've always had an interest in legal matters, wanted to do Law at Uni but didn't get the A-level grades), and I'd much rather be at the courts than at my day job. Bang goes my free 2-week break.

Agh, pants. I bet you were looking forward to the justified time off work if nothing else.

You read me so well, babe :)

See, men aren't so hard to figure out.

Are you going to be at Kirstyfest? I think I am bowing out this year, can't justify going any more really... nothing is changing or happening with the Campaign and I feel I did my bit with the book last year.

I'll be there. Please reconsider, I'd love to see you again and it's a great event in its own right. It is disappointing that the campaign's ground to a halt but I think that's more down to Mexican officialdom, rather than any loss of heart by the JFK people. More to the point, I'd hate to see the annual gathering die...

I think it might be time to accept that it will, eventually peter out and not be 'the same as it was at the start.' Doesn't mean we have to lose touch or forget Kirsty. I just choose to remember her in my own way.

you wanted to go to jury duty?
this is the one thing americans dread the most!

I've always had an interest in legal matters (wanted to study law at university but didn't get the A-level (=high school graduation) grades I needed), and I'd rather be doing jury duty than my job!
