The Fourteenth of February
Dropped an unsigned Valentine addressed to Sharon into her team's inbox first thing this morning. Mike sits bang next to their inbox, so I'm pretty sure he spotted me.
Maria, Tracy and Melissa compared notes about what their husbands had done for them this morning. Melissa's presented her with a box of special chocs. Tracy told us how she'd teased hers because he's going to Portsmouth v Ipswich tonight instead of having a night in with her; she made out to him that she'd been planning a special treat, and told him with a big smile that she'd never know what. Tracy asked if I'd received any today; I replied that I'd had to set off before the postman called but that my hopes weren't high. Melissa said with a grin "You never know..."
Mel arrived a little later than usual today; Maria and I joked that she must have been held up having to open all her skipful of cards.
From my desk I didn't hear Sharon's reaction to my card but I did hear Frances saying to her "I think it's sweet." Not long after, I passed quite close to their table - and Mike was over there talking to them. As I went by he said clearly to Sharon "So you're getting worried. I wonder who it could be?" Thankfully she seemed unruffled when I talked to her a little later, but she betrayed no sign of knowing either.
